In 2025, the Editor, Erin Czelusniak, recognized the struggles that environmental justice research was facing in the midst of the politicization of climate change and topics surrounding diversity, equity, and inclusion. Government and private sector employees faced mass firings and the cutting of research funding related to their field. However, this in no means meant that the need to address environmental justice was any less pressing.

With resources and support desperately needed, the Editor created this platform to highlight environmental injustices and the researchers who are fighting against them. By offering editing and publication support, we hope to aid professionals across a variety of disciplines in building up their careers and the collection of environmental justice research.
